Accessibility is part of trust. The Ingredient Report targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA across the site, and treats accessibility problems like factual errors: report them and we fix them on the record.
What is built in
- Semantic HTML with one H1 per page, logical heading order and meaningful landmarks
- A skip-to-content link on every page, and full keyboard operability for menus, accordions and forms
- Visible focus indicators on interactive elements
- Descriptive link text ("View the scoring methodology") rather than "click here"
- Alt text on informative images; decorative images marked as such
- Score and status information conveyed with text labels, never color alone
- Contrast targeting 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and essential UI
- Reduced-motion support: animations are disabled when your system requests it
- Body text at a minimum of 17px, buttons at least 44px tall, and tables that scroll rather than shrink below legibility on mobile
Known limitations
Some third-party embeds (form processing, future video players) are outside our direct control; we choose providers with accessible defaults where possible. High-resolution evidence images are provided with text summaries of the facts they document.
Tell us where we fall short
If anything on this site is difficult to use with assistive technology, email hello@theingredientreport.com with the page and the problem. Accessibility reports are handled under the same corrections process as factual errors.
